There’s always a moment at most Sleepy Ridge weddings where I stop and just look around for a second. It’s usually during golden hour when the light is coming across the Oquirrh Mountains, the waterfall is running just outside the French doors, and whoever I’m photographing is so relaxed and happy that the camera almost feels unnecessary.
Almost.
I’ve photographed weddings at Sleepy Ridge wedding venue, and it’s one of my favorites in Utah County. Here’s everything you need to know before you book.

What Sleepy Ridge Is
Sleepy Ridge is a golf course wedding venue in Lindon, Utah, tucked right into the middle of Utah County. It sits next to Utah Lake with the Wasatch and Oquirrh mountains framing it on both sides. The mountain views are real; not a painting, not a backdrop, just the actual mountains doing their thing while your guests eat dinner and your photographer gets the beautiful backdrop in every photo.
The venue offers two main reception spaces, plus ceremony grounds, a waterfall patio, a gazebo, and access to the golf course for portraits. If you’ve been venue shopping in Utah County, you’ve probably already come across Sleepy Ridge. There’s a reason it keeps showing up.
The Garden Room
The Garden Room is the main indoor reception space, and it earns that name. Floor-to-ceiling windows run along the room, pulling the outside in. There’s a stone fireplace and mantel that anchors the space without being heavy, and French doors that open directly to the outdoor garden patio.
Through those doors: a cascading waterfall, a stone patio, and a gazebo perfect for vows. The indoor-outdoor flow here is one of the best I’ve seen at any Utah County wedding venue. Cocktail hour on the patio, dinner inside with the doors open, and everyone gets the mountain air and the warmth of the room at the same time.

The Garden Room seats up to 250 for a formal dinner, with capacity stretching to 700 for a flowing reception when you use both the indoor and outdoor areas.
The Sunset Room
The Sunset Room is on the third floor, and it’s exactly what it sounds like. Beautiful hardwood floors lead to French doors that open onto a balcony with a full view of the 18th fairway, Utah Lake, and the Oquirrh Mountains. There’s an elegant stone mantel and fireplace in here too.
Sunset Room receptions during golden hour are something else. The light that comes across the lake turns everything warm and a little dreamy. I’ve photographed portraits on that balcony and the light was so good it made my job easy.

What Your Sleepy Ridge Wedding Day Looks Like
Here’s typically how the day flows when I’m photographing a Sleepy Ridge wedding.
We start with details: the invitation suite, rings, florals, dress hanging somewhere with good light. Then getting-ready shots, followed by a first look or the aisle reveal which is your decision. I’ll walk you through the pros and cons of each before your day.
The ceremony can happen at the gazebo, on the patio by the waterfall, or in one of the rooms. Then family photos on the grounds before dinner. Portraits either during cocktail hour or right before sunset, using the golf course and the mountain views as our backdrop.

And then the reception: candid, hands-off, me moving through the crowd catching the real moments while your DJ earns his check.
I use Guided Candid Posing for all portrait sessions, which means you’ll get specific prompts and direction so you’re never just standing there wondering what to do with your hands. The goal is photos that look posed but feel like you were just having fun, because you actually were.
Tips for Photographing Your Sleepy Ridge Wedding Well
Build in time for balcony portraits. If you’re in the Sunset Room, negotiate a few minutes on the balcony before the light changes. That mountain-and-lake view is worth it.
Use the waterfall as a backdrop. The patio waterfall is beautiful and not every couple thinks to use it for portraits. I will absolutely ask for five minutes there.
Consider a fall or spring date. The grounds are beautiful year-round but fall in particular does something special here. The golf course goes golden, the mountains get a little moody, and the whole venue feels different.
Don’t skip the golden hour portraits. I say this at every Utah County venue but especially here. The light on that balcony at sunset is the kind of thing you’ll describe to your kids years after your wedding.
